Ruach Flow? What's that?

What is Ruach? And why do Christians need an alternative to Yoga? What's wrong with Yoga for Heaven's sake? Well for Heaven's sake is about right.

One of the main aspirations of this ministry, is to see God's will be done on Earth, as it is in Heaven. (Matthew 6:10).

There is nothing ungodly about the fluid movements, commonly known health benefits, or the structured breathing associated with Yoga. Quite to the contrary. God is the source of all good things. "Every good and perfect gift is from above coming down from the Father of lights.." (James 1:17)

But God makes it strikingly clear in the Bible that if He has one major pet peeve, one sure fire way to push His wrath button, it is through idol worship.

Since the garden of Eden, the enemy has sought to convince mankind to use a creation of God, that by itself is beautiful and harmless, to take hold of as a vessel of rebellion, by which it becomes perverted.

Ok. Let me give you the short version. Yoga is a Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline. Hinduism is offensive to God. The exercise itself is not. (I know this statement may offend, even some Christian readers, but friendship with the world is hostility toward God). (James 4:4)

By changing the name, we acknowledge that the ancient Eastern religious connotation of "Yoga" is an offense to God, and dedicate this particular exercise back to Elohim (Creator God), with the new Hebrew name of Ruach which means breath, wind, and Spirit. The word Ruach appears in the Bible almost 400 times in the original Hebrew text. The word's first use appears in the second verse of Genesis: "The Spirit of God [Ruach Elohim] was hovering over the waters."

God's ruach is the source of life. In Genesis 2:7, God uses "ruach", which is His own breath, to breathe life into man's nostrils. Job also refers to "the life within him" as the breath [ruach] of God in his nostrils.

In Sanskrit (the language in which the Hindu scriptures are written, by which yogic terminology is derived) alternative nostril breathing of yoga translates to "subtle energy clearing technique".

But in Colossians 1:29, Paul says that he strenuously contends (strives) with all of the energy Christ so powerfully works within him.

The Hindu may have a subtle energy to be cleared, but I have an energy that powerfully works within me in which to strive with! It is the same powerful energy that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. It is the Holy Spirit of God that works within me. It is the Ruach Yahweh. (Isaiah 11:2), (Isaiah 42:1).
